Blasting is a very diverse market made up of wheel blasters, air blasters, and cabinet blasters. The blasting media also varies widely from sand, steel, plastic, slag and various shot. This section focuses on wheel blasting and large blast rooms. Camfil APC has over 100 Farr Gold Series on these applications and numerous Tenkays.

Safety Considerations

When blasting aluminum extra safety precautions must be taken. The collector must be outside with explosion vents, fire retardant cartridges, and a fire suppression system. No ferrous blasting or ferrous materials can be mixed with a dust collector filtering aluminum dust. If any other flammable materials are being blasted, then consult factory for extra safety precautions. Extra caution should be taken when blasting with silica sand to protect workers from air born silica dust.

Benefits of the Farr Gold Series

  • Vertically arranged cartridges have the ability to handle heavy grain loadings and handle abrasive dusts better than horizontally arranged cartridges.
  • High entry cross flow inlet eliminates upward can velocities that can hold fine powder up in the filters reducing re-entrainment of the fine particles.
  • The robust construction of the Farr Gold Series holds up well in a very abrasive environment. Our abrasion resistant inlet configuration knocks most of the dust into the hopper before it gets to the cartridges.
  • Modular construction has great design flexibility. In blasting applications, job site issues typically require changes in unit orientations. The Farr Gold Series can accommodate!
  • High efficiency filters stop 99.99% at 0.5µ of the dust!
  • Special treated filter media repels the fine particle for lower pressure drop and long filter life.
  • Gold Cone® provides 25% more media for long service life.
